Look who stopped by for a visit

Mindy and Steve were in town visiting her parents and decided to take their bikes on a ride. They found themselves in our driveway. This was her first "real" ride since they bought her bike. They looked so cute pulling out of the driveway on his Harley and her Honda? I think it is. Steve is going to buy her a Harley too once she masters riding on the smaller bike.

"The Young Man"

Devin was the youth speaker in church today. He gave me so much grief over it and was even vowing to not do it on the way to church. So, I was mentally preparing myself to give his talk, when at the last minute he said he would do it. He did SOOOO good. If he was nervous, you couldnt tell it. His talk was on charity. After church, I had to capture the moment with a picture. This was the only smile I could muster out of him. It will do.

Drakes Creek vs Warren East

We won our first football game this past Thursday night. We went into overtime and it all came down to us getting the extra point when they didnt. So, we won 16 to 14. Devin did SO WELL. He was a BEAST out on the field. He plays Cornerback and he brought down their runningback and / or receiver SEVEN TIMES! My camera blurred all of the action shots for some reason. It has too many buttons; I still need to learn how to use it. I promise to take better pictures of next week's game against Glasgow.

The Birthday Boy

The first day of school just happened to be Seth's birthday too! Poor kid. He handled it very well, especially considering they spent 2 hours on the busride home. ( new driver, new route, and a long, hot story...it happened to reach 99 degrees that day.) He forgot all about it when he saw his new "big boy" bike. His first take off on the new bike.......
My Granny with Seth...

Back To School

Summer flew by so fast! I feel like it was just yesterday that we were arranging summer camps and practicing for baseball! Devin started at Drakes Creek Middle School. He was excited even though you cannot tell from the lack of expression on his face. (this is the macho look...no smile). He opted to ride the bus from day one...cant be having Mom and Dad take you to school the first morning when you are in 7th grade. He is playing football for Drakes, of course. Conditioning started a week or so before school, so that kinda broke the ice for him. Seth is in 1st grade and Ryan in 2nd, attending Natcher Elementary. They both did really good the first day of school. We are now a couple of weeks into school, and no disciplinary action taken yet. hint....I am not referring to Ryan.

Big Buffalo Crossing Canoe Trip

We drove up to Munfordville the weekend before school started to spend one last fun day together. We coasted down the Green River for about 3 hours. Chad and Devin had been once already this summer and Devin was dying to go back. We all had alot of fun. The boys caught ALOT of frogs, we spotted a snake, swam a little, and most importantly...didnt tip the canoe over.

Splitting Hairs

Chad and Devin couldn't resist the chance to show the boys how to "split a hair in water". Seth thought it was funny, but Ryan was clearly not in the mood for a little afternoon humor.

Shelling Peas

Daddy Bob and Ann supplied us with fresh veggies out of the garden this summer. Ryan and Seth had fun shelling peas on the front porch.....

....and shucking corn on my Granny's back porch.

Edisto Island

Our annual trip to SC was almost cancelled due to Devin's AllStar tournament in Owensboro. However, in a last minute rush, we loaded up without Chad and Devin and took off to our favorite spot with our friend Tangie and her daughter Rileigh. It was a fun time, but I felt guilty with the other half of my family 800 miles away.
Rileigh turned out to be quite the crabbing expert. She cought this crab the very first day. Literally dug him out of his hole with her bare hands. Once he shot out of his hole (and I screamed loud enough for the whole Bay to turn their heads), Ryan snatched him up in the net.
June and July are busy months for the Sea Turtles. These partitions were up and down the beach. We could have taken a guided walk with a federal game officer to sneak a peak at them digging their nests at night, but no kids were allowed.
Sunset on the bay side of the island. The wind was CRAZY.
Tangie and Rileigh....they left the other half of their family at home too.

The Cincinatti Reds

In July, Chad took Devin and Ryan to see the Reds play the Mets. Devin caught a homerun ball during their batting practice. He has NO idea who was batting at the time!
On their way home, they stopped at The Louisville Slugger Museum.

Baseball 2008

Ryan played for the Tigers this season. He really built alot of confidence this season, despite the shiner he received in preseason. We were scared that would make him gun shy, but it didnt slow him down a bit.
His team placed 3rd in their league.

Devin played for the Twins. He had an awesome coach this season. His team placed 2nd in their league.

Seth played for the Angels. He learned how to NOT make sandcasltes while in the infield this season.

He also mastered sliding into home....as you can see.

Devin managed to make AllStars despite the politics! Way to go Devin!

May 2008

Steve came home in May! We were all very excited for him, Mindy and Kenall! The sacrifices that our military and their families became more clear to us by seeing what Mindy and her family endured through those long, long months. We love you Mindy and Steve! You too Roo!
